Sleep Preventer 1.3 – Prevents your computer from going to sleep, hibernate, dim the display or start the screensaver. Application runs in the system tray when closed. Similar to Caffeine for OS X. Toggle on/off by clicking the systray icon.

    Is it possible to add a feature that would prevent sleep & hibernation, but still turn the laptop screen off? I was forced to switch from a mac to win7 for my work and I’m looking for an equivalent feature to insomniax for mac. Thanks.

    I might add this feature in the next version. I’ve checked the Windows API I am using, and it should be possible to do.

    This only prevents automatic sleep so it should called Automatic Sleep Preventer. Any app can still call sleep function programmatically. Can sleep preventer block such sleep or hibernation requests like you can block shutdown or restart in Windows?

    That’s correct, and it’s how the application is designed. The application won’t prevent you from telling your computer to sleep or shutdown. And Automatic Sleep Preventer is such a long name. :)

    Can you add one checkbox option to also prevent user-initiated sleep/standby/hibernate? Maybe this will only work under XP: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/system/OSEvents.aspx

    Really an option to prevent hibernate or standby when doing manually would be great. Like if I am encoding a long video or downloading something huge and I forget about it and accidentally tell the computer to hibernate.

    Sleep Preventer will not prevent the computer from going to sleep when you press the sleep button, close the lid or do any hardware related functions.
